Deep condition whenever you can<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since you\u2019ve gotten your hair lightened, it\u2019s the perfect time for a deep and nourishing conditioner. Whether you use a more moisturizing conditioner, a deep conditioner here and there, use a hair mask, or a leave-in conditioner, you can\u2019t go wrong with more conditioning for your hair.<\/p>

If you can, schedule a deep conditioning treatment at your salon. Not only is this a relaxing time to treat yourself, but you are treating your hair and helping it in the damage repair process, too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use color safe shampoo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Washing your hair can be daunting when you have colored or bleached your hair. You may worry that the shampoo will dull the color. Thankfully, there are color-safe shampoos that can keep your hair from fading and keep your blonde from turning brassy or yellow. These shampoos help preserve color and keep your hair looking and feeling lively.<\/p>

In our custom shampoo<\/a>, we offer the option to make your formula color-safe. If you tell us during your consultation that you have color-treated hair, all of your formulations will be color-safe.<\/p>

It\u2019s also wise to use a purple or blue shampoo or conditioner to remove any yellow, orange, or brassy tones from your bleached hair. This will limit how frequently you tone or bleach your hair. There are some at-home toners or masks, but we also create a conditioner with purple hues for the best-colored hair.\u00a0<\/p>

Try not to use toning shampoo too often because it can be extremely drying and contribute to damage to your hair. We recommend using a toning shampoo once a week, and you can even add it to your regular shampoo. Use a deep conditioning mask on the same day as your toning shampoo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use a silk or satin pillowcase<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your hair has been compromised by the bleach, but that doesn\u2019t mean it has to continue. Using a silk or satin pillowcase<\/a> will take care of your hair without you having to think about it. The softness of this pillowcase will keep your hair from the friction that can happen while you sleep.<\/p>

You may feel concerned about breakage, but using this pillowcase will help prevent your hair from additional breakage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use a microfiber towel instead of a cotton towel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the same way that a cotton pillowcase can cause friction and damage for your bleached tresses, a cotton towel can cause breakage for your hair. Try to choose a more gentle towel, such as a microfiber towel.\u00a0<\/p>

Try a microfiber towels that\u2019s made specifically for wrapping around your hair while you wait for your strands to dry. It\u2019s also a great option to sleep with your hair wrapped in a silk scarf or hair wrap, just like sleeping on a satin pillowcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t sleep on wet hair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the same way that your hair can encounter breakage because of the pillowcase being used, your hair can experience more breakage if you go to sleep with it still wet.\u00a0<\/p>

Sleeping with damp hair may cause extra tangles and a crazy mane to deal with in the morning. If you can’t avoid sleeping with wet hair, make a few easy changes to your bath and bedtime routine to reduce possibly harmful friction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limit chlorine exposure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Try your best to tie your hair up before swimming in a chlorine pool. Since your hair has been exposed to bleach, chlorine can affect your hair significantly.<\/p>

You can also wet your hair and coat with a leave-in conditioner before your swim, and your hair will soak up less water in the pool. It\u2019s best to give your hair a good, thorough rinse after the pool and follow with a clarifying shampoo and rich conditioner or mask when you shower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try not to brush your wet hair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brushing your bleached hair right after a shower may seem like a no-brainer, but it may cause substantial damage if you’re not cautious, because hair is at its most vulnerable when it’s damp.<\/p>

Combing out tangles seems like the best thing to do for your hair, but this can lead to more breakage. Wait until your hair has dried somewhat, and then brush away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limit blow drying and other heat styling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every now and then, give your hair a break from any heat styling, such as blow-drying, straightening, or curling. Excessive heat will damage your hair or lead to breakage, so try to keep heat styling at a minimum, and let your hair air dry instead.\u00a0<\/p>

This could be the perfect time to invest in some products that help your hair air dry the way that you like it. Using heat occasionally is alright, but be weary of doing it every day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try to refrain from using super hot water<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We all know that showering with hot water can be incredibly relaxing. But, it\u2019s important to remember to try and limit the use of extremely hot water on your bleached hair as it can contribute to damage or unhealthy hair just like styling with heat products. Hot water can also strip or eliminate natural oils from your hair follicles. This means your hair could end up being dry, brittle, or even frizzy. Try to use warm, not hot water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let your hair down<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your hair may be under more stress at the root as a result of certain hairstyles, like a tight ponytail, making it more prone to breakage. When possible, wear your hair down and loose. Try to stay away from elastics and use silk scrunchies when you do tie your hair up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
