I spent so much of my life relaxing and damaging my hair and then when I finally went through the process of letting that go, I found myself a little vulnerable, but at the same time growing stronger. \nMy curls have gone through an evolution. I couldn\u2019t wait until I was old enough to relax my hair and when my mother allowed me to do it at the age of 12. I permed my hair 3-4x a year until I was 19 years old (I couldn\u2019t afford to relax my hair while I was in college). I still managed to straighten my hair without a relaxer but as the natural hair movement became a trend, I was tempted to unlearn the beauty standard that I was exposed to and reconcile with my natural texture. I wasn\u2019t confident enough to chop my dead hair, but I spent years scrunching my ends and testing different products and new style methods that would achieve the best hair styles for me. My natural hair is now 4 years old and I\u2019m 28 years old \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
