Aloe vera is a succulent plant with leaves composed of three layers: an external protective layer, a fibrous layer that protects the plant from predators, and a gelatinous core where water is stored. This core has been and is still used in a number of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
WHERE IT'S SOURCED
We source aloe vera from a certified Fair For Life network. The harvest consists of cutting the fleshy outer leaves of the plant several times a year, without removing the heart. Crop rotation is also practiced so as not to exhaust the soil. Underneath its rough skin, aloe vera leaf is made up of mostly water. This means it has to be processed as soon as it’s harvested before it dries up. The leaves are washed with water (and never chemically treated), and the nutrient-dense, vitamin-rich inner gel is extracted.
THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES SCIENCE: INFUSE HYDRATION & MOISTURE TO THE HAIR
Many scientific studies have shown that aloe vera helps to soothe and hydrate the skin. Its nutrients and water content make aloe vera an excellent ingredient for infusing moisture into the cuticles as well as the hair fiber, curls, and coils.
