Boar bristle
Boar bristle brushes are an industry standard because of how closely boar hair resembles the makeup of human hair. Boar hair also contains keratin, one of the key structural proteins that human hair is comprised of. Prose boar hair brushes use only the root, which guarantees the highest quality bristle. And don’t worry, no boars were harmed in the making of any of our brushes! The hairs are gathered from animals who were chiefly raised for their meat and have already passed on.
Ok, now for the amazing benefits. Our boar bristle brush is conditioning and adds maximum shine and smoothness to strands with just a few swipes. They’re ideal for people with fine to normal hair. Stroking your hair from scalp to ends with this boar bristle brush will allow your natural oils to distribute evenly throughout your hair, providing any dry ends with the nourishment they crave.
Boar and nylon bristle
For knotty hair that is also seeking a boost of shine, our boar and nylon brush is the best of both worlds. The boar bristle will add luster while the handmade ball tipped nylon bristles will work to gently detangle strands. Ideal for normal to thick hair, our boar and nylon bristle brush can do it all.
Tipped-Metal bristle
This one is for all our curl friends out there. The handmade ball tipped metal bristles of this brush work with your hair to gently detangle without damaging the fragile integrity of your curls. However, even if you don’t have curly hair, but hair that is just thick and unruly, the tipped metal bristles will also work with your strands to detangle and smooth. Another plus to this brush are its scalp massaging properties. The tipped bristles will rub against your scalp as you brush, which stimulates blood flow to the area resulting in faster hair growth. What more could you ask for?

Last time I placed an order, there eas an option to take a photo of the top of my head for more help from the pros. I didn’t do it because it had been a couple days since I shampooed, but now i wish i had. How can i get back to that screen?

My granddaughter want a curved boar bristle brush, do you carry?
Hi Susan! While we do have a Boar Bristle brush, we don’t currently have a curved Boar bristle brush. But, we love that you let us know that you’d like to see this. Thanks so much for connecting with us & if you have any questions, just let us know.
I would love to have an agave round brush as I am vegan but need to smooth out my curly frizzy hair
Do you have a care guide for washing the brushes? I was recent gifted the boar hair brush and it said to wash it monthly, but wasn’t sure exactly what that means. Thanks!
Hi Nichole, check out our guide for cleaning your Prose Hair Brush here: https://prose.com/clean-hairbrush-prose.php 🙂

I have long hair with medium thickness, some split ends I’m trying to tame as well as breakage, and my hair has slight wave to it. Which brush would you recommend? Right now I brush with a plastic wet brush only when my hair is wet, or to smooth it in the mornings.
Hi Megan! We recommend the Boar & Nylon Bristle Brush for your hair type.

Hi there, I am interested in purchasing the brush, but want to know if the brush is supposed to be used on dry hair or wet hair ? I have fine, curly hair and do not get tangles.
Hi Linda! We recommend using your Prose brush on damp or dry hair as soaking wet hair is more fragile and prone to breakage. Hope this helps!

If you have fine curly hair, would you still recommend the tipped-metal bristle?
Hi Shannon, yes! Our Tipped-Metal Brush is recommended for curly hair to detangle and help add definition 🙂

I have a very pixie cut. Do I need a brush?
Using the best brush for your hair type can have added benefits, even it’s short. We recommend choosing one that aligns with your hair’s needs for the best results.
Is the boar bristle brush recommended for curly hair? Or should curly haired people only use the tipped metal bristle brush?
Hi! We recommend the Tipped-Metal Brush for curly hair to help detangle and avoid frizz 🙂

I have not used a brush on my curly hair for more than fifteen years – I am surprised to see a brush recommended for curly hair at all. How does a brush possibly help define curls, when all I have read and been taught otherwise is that brushing curly hair causes it to lose definition and get frizzy?
Hi Anne! We do not recommend brushing curly hair when it’s dry (unless it’s right before washing your hair to detangle.) Certain kinds of brushes can be used on curly hair while it’s wet to smooth frizz and add definition. It’s all about finding the right brush and technique 🙂

I think I filled out my hair type questionaire incorrectly. I recieved the brush with the nylon bristles and I have thin, fine hair. It does loosely curl up when it air dries but overall it is fine. I was expecting the all boar bristle brush. I was not paying attention when I ordered this (recommended from my quiz) on my phone.
Thanks,
Pat
Hi, at what point in the hair routine should a curly haired person use this brush? Thanks.
Hi Mary! which brush are you referreing to?
I have fine hair with a combination of 2a to 2c Long, salt and pepper hair. What type of brush will work for my hair? I usually only brush it before I wash or rinse it.
Hi there! A brush will be recommended for you based on the results of your consultation.
