The Prose Value and Impact Report
Our Donations
This year we’ve donated to three different causes that invest in racial justice:
1. Black Girls CODE
This year to celebrate Black History Month, we partnered with Black Girls CODE to donate $10,000 to their cause. Just like within the beauty industry, throughout STEM, representation matters. Black Girls CODE is working hard to ensure that women of color are represented in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics industries.
2. Hate is a Virus
We completely condemn the violent, racist assaults against Asian Americans. That’s why we donated to Hate is a Virus, a nonprofit community of mobilizers and amplifiers that work to dismantle racism and hate.
3. Asian Mental Health Collective
We recognize how mentally challenging this year’s events have been to process, so we decided to also donate to the Asian Mental Health Collective. They work to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health within the Asian community and aspire to make mental health easily available, approachable, and accessible to Asian communities worldwide. Between Hate is a Virus and Asian Mental Health Collective we made two donations totaling $10,000.
Our B Corporation Status
In March we celebrated B Corp Month along with 3,700 other global B Corps. We’ve been B-Corp certified since 2019, meaning we are legally required to meet social, sustainability, environmental performance, and accountability standards. Here’s a breakdown on exactly what that means for Prose.
B Corp Fast Facts
Compared to other companies, B Corp companies are:
- 250% more likely to be carbon neutral
- 210% more likely to screen suppliers for environmental & social practices
- 68% more likely to be majority women workers
Our DEI Council Creation
In December of 2020 we formed our internal Diversity Equity and Inclusion Council that’s made up of ten members, four of those being people that hold a leadership role at Prose. Employees are paid for their time on the DEI Council and rotate annually. Council member selection was based on an application open to all employees and incorporates representatives from each of our three offices.
DEI Council Mission Statement
Lead definition, direction and execution of a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. Ensuring these directives come from a spectrum of voices, we amplify the needs of all Prose employees, especially those historically underrepresented. The result of this work will be a community of trust and belonging where employees feel seen and heard.
DEI Council 1st Quarter Initiatives:
- Rollout of a quarterly team newsletter including resources and goal progress
- Launch of the DEI Discussion Series, a quarterly themed discussion to address important, contextually relevant, and difficult conversations as a team
Our Pay Audit
We conducted an internal pay equity audit and rolled out adjusted pay for our employees. The audit centered on race/ethnicity and gender with the aim to correct any disparities.
Our WITH partnership
Through our partnership with WITH we invested in our underrepresented talent. WITH is a wellness services company committed to the radical healing and wellness of BIPOC talent. They offer a personalized care system, continued check-ins with vetted professionals, connections to wellness advisors, coaches, and therapists, and insights for promoting a more equitable team.
