You Asked, We Answered: What Everyone Wants to Know About Hair

April 22, 2020

1 Min read

No one has all the answers, but Google sure does try! When it comes to hair-related questions like how to identify your curl pattern and the best ways to manage oily hair, relying on Google is almost a reflex. But, what are the hairy questions exactly? They’re hard to pin down, for example, some people want to know how to braid hair while others are interested in hair growth, but a few common questions do pop up quite often. Find out what most people are searching for when it comes to hair, below.

You Goggled: How to get wavy hair
Our Answer: Despite being the poster hairstyle for laid-back chic, for most women, achieving wavy hair isn’t always so effortless. Here are four easy steps to getting wavy hair using a straightener:

Step 1: Apply a heat protectant.

Step 2: Divide your hair into sections of various sizes.

Step 3: Starting midway down your lengths to prevent curls from beginning at the root, place each divided section into the open straightener. The section should wrap no more than twice around.

Step 4: After clamping down the straightener, slide it out of each section quickly. Repeat for each divided section and you’ll have waves cascading down your head in no time.

You Googled: How to braid hair
Our Answer: Many of us may have learned how to braid hair in elementary school, but it’s still a mystery to some. The good news is that it’s an easy skill to pick up. Here’s how to braid your hair:

Step 1: Comb your hair away from your face so you can get a clear view of what you’re working with.

Step 2: Separate your hair into three sections; bigger sections for larger braids and smaller sections for small, tight braids.

Step 3: To begin braiding your hair, cross the right side over the middle section of hair then repeat by crossing alternating left and right sections over the middle piece until you run out of hair.

Bonus Round: Once you’ve mastered the basic braid, try your hand at a french pull-through braid.

You Googled: How to grow hair
Our Answer: For most women, growing long locks is one of their top hair goals. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Follow the right diet

A lot of what is required to grow your hair comes from within, which is why a diet rich in the right nutrients is very important for hair growth. Meals high in B vitamins, iron, protein and minerals will help you to grow long, healthy locks.

Use the right hair care products

A sure fire way to grow long hair is to use nourishing hair care products. You should be just as particular about your hair care as you are your skincare; not just anything should be used to cleanse your scalp and nourish your lengths. Take a step in the right direction by using a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

Avoid heat styling tools

Yes, curling irons may have saved you from many bad hair days, but the frequent use of curling irons, straighteners and other heat styling tools may be contributing to your hair’s damage and stagnant length. Decreasing tool temperature and using heat protectants can help to prevent hair breakage and eventually damage, which will allow your hair to flourish more freely.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Did you know you could sleep your way to long hair? Silk pillowcases can prevent hair tangles and breakage, two of the biggest foes to retaining length and realizing your long-haired dreams.

Trim your hair

Yes, it might seem a little nutty to suggest cutting your hair to have it grow, but we promise there’s a method to this madness. The excess inches you might be holding onto might be standing in the way of you achieving your desired length. By trimming your hair, you’ll be getting rid of any split ends that cause damage and stunt growth.

You Googled: How to get healthy hair
Our Answer: It’s no coincidence that the same measures you take to grow your hair long and strong are the same ones you should use when working to boost your hair’s health.

In addition to the steps above, to grow a healthy head of hair you must also observe proper scalp hygiene. This means exfoliating your scalp to unclog pores and allow for healthy hair growth. Scalp massages are also super beneficial as they help to stimulate blood flow, which in turn stimulates hair growth. You can also boost your hair’s health by doing a hair mask before cleansing your hair.

You Googled: What 2020 hair colors are trending
Our Answer: Nothing like a new decade to spark change. If you’re feeling inspired, start by trying one of these 2020 hair color trends:

A fan-favorite, this wispy highlight trend isn’t going anywhere. Balayage is a safe start if you’re looking to jump on the 2020 hair color trends.

Chunky highlights

Taking a slight left from balayage, a bolder hair trend to attempt this year is the chunky highlight. If you’re feeling a little 2000s nostalgia, this trend may be just what you need.

Bright colors

Bright and bold hair is more popular than ever now. Hop on the bandwagon and dye your hair any (or all!) the colors of the rainbow.

  1. Hi! my ends are at least 2 or 3 shades lighter than the rest of my hair. I had highlights once that I covered with a dye of my colour(dyed my whole hair). Now after some time in Australia i think due to the sand my ends are a lot lighter and i want to dye it all uniform. Should i dye my whole hair again or just from the middle down?
Also, my hair is really thin and I’ve heard that the dye can give you some extra body, is that true? Thanks!
