25 Trending Summer Hair Colors to Try in 2022
Copper tones
A tried and true color, copper tones have evolved from Disney Princess to a celeb favorite and found their way onto our list of trendy summer hair colors. While there still seems to be something innocent and fantastical about it, that can certainly be mitigated with a smokey eye and some leather pants (unless you want to pair it with a yellow princess dress at the Met Gala.) Totally up to you!
Icy blonde
You know how wearing white makes you look tanner? Well, icy blonde hair has the same effect. There’s nothing like a bright blonde with blue or gray undertones to contrast sun kissed skin and make literally everything about you pop. While it’s one of the higher maintenance summer hair colors on the menu, with some intermittent toning between salon visits, it’s a small price to pay for a look so white hot.
Curl lights
Curls are most loved for their dimension and personality, and curl lights enhance both of those. With warm highlights strategically placed around the face and towards the ends of your locks, curl lights bring out the best in an already super fun style. With curl lights, it’s all about bringing out the shape and adding warmth to an already vibrant look.
Pastels
In case you missed it, SteamPunk style is back, but not in the exact way it was before. While we might want to leave the mustache tattoos and own necklaces in the past, pastels are one aspect of this aesthetic we happily welcome to our list of summer hair colors. Pastel pink, we all know and love, but there are plenty of other beautiful pastel options to explore this summer.
Natural but glossed
If you’re skeptical about permanent dyes or bleach that does not mean you should miss out on refreshing your look with a new summer hair color. A hair gloss is a long-lasting conditioner that coats your hair in well, a gloss. Glosses are ammonia free, meaning that your hair cuticle is not penetrated like dyes. The result is your natural color but enhanced: super shiny locks that retain their gloss for about 10 washes.
Golden brown
Soft brown, honey brown, caramel brown, the best way to describe this shade is warmly rich without being too heavy. Perfectly nestled in between a true blonde and brunette, golden brown is the warmest of all the summer hair colors, and is a true summer approved shade. The proof is in the way the honey tones glow in the sun.
